In 1988, just before his 21st birthday, Anthony “Tony” Schindler quit his job at the Cactus Casual patio furniture store in Phoenix and co-founded Paddy O ‘Furniture, selling PVC pipe furniture in a nursery parking lot on the Bell Road side of Peoria.

Now, 33 years later, Paddy O ‘has expanded to seven locations in the Valley, as well as two in Tennessee.

Schindler says the company’s mission is to “Guide People to Patio Happiness.” They do this by offering high quality patio furniture, fire pits, umbrellas, and accessories.

“We design and develop our products, including our famous Bliss Cushions, to withstand the extreme elements of the Sonoran Desert,” added Schindler.

There is no doubt that 2020 has been a difficult year for many business owners, but with so many people left at home, Paddy O ‘has had a surprising boost.

“The demand for patio furniture during COVID-19 is at historic highs, creating a lot of opportunities for us to grow our bottom line,” Schindler said. “COVID-19 has resulted in increased revenue for our business as many homeowners have upgraded their patios and backyards to become more than a secondary place to hang out. In fact, we had our best selling year in 2020 which led us to increase production and create more local jobs to meet demand.

He noted that all is not rosy, however, “The supply chain disruptions that are occurring both nationally and globally have put significant pressure on margins.”

But, as the company prepares to celebrate its birthday on September 15, Schindler feels nothing but gratitude.

“We are very grateful that the entire community has supported us and the way we do business for a third of a century now, and the pandemic was no exception,” he said. And to those who have not yet visited, he added, “We would be grateful to have the opportunity to earn your business and guide you to the happiness of your patio if you need outdoor furniture. ‘quality exterior. “

The company continues to follow CDC guidelines in all of its stores, which have overcome the challenges of the past year and have adapted as needed. Each Paddy O ‘Furniture location is open seven days a week, with various hours of operation. The exact times and locations can be found at www.padyo.com/locations.
