There is plenty to do in the Heights, River Oaks and Montrose areas in July and August. Community members can participate in many activities, from July 4th celebrations to listening to ghost stories.

Shell Freedom Over Texas July 4

The Independence Day celebration downtown is virtual for the second year in a row and is broadcast live by ABC 13. The event features artists such as country singers Jimmie Allen and headliner Lee Brice. The events end with a grand final fireworks display. 7 pm-10pm Free. www.houstontx.gov/july4

713 day July 13

Ghost Stories TX July 20

Summer shakes from July 23 to 25

Two students from Julliard School and 12 high school students from the Houston area perform “As You Like It” by William Shakespeare.
