Edgar Rogerson Durant | The Summer Item

Edgar Rogerson DuRant, 63, husband of Wynn Dee Weeks DuRant, died on Friday April 8, 2022 at Sumter Gardens.

Born September 4, 1958 in Sumter, he was the son of the late Harrell Eugene DuRant Sr. and the late Mae Rogerson DuRant. He was a member of Harmony Church and retired from Carolina Furniture Works. He loved the Clemson Tigers.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Rogerson DuRant (fiancé, Kamryn Shaffer), Kayla DuRant, Kelsey DuRant and Kelli DuRant; three grandchildren, Brayden DuRant, Abner DuRant and Cash DuRant; one brother, Harrell E. “Gene” DuRant Jr. (Jeannie) of Sumter; one sister, Carole Copeland (Fred) of Batesburg; and six nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Harmony Church with the Reverend Dan Keaton officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.

The bearers will be Jody Ortmann, John Gall, Bert Smith, Ken Chandler, Royce Combs and TC Rodgers.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Tonya Bozeman, Brenda Shelton and the staff at Amedisys Hospice for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided.
